Tonya Breymier’s Bio

Meet our Professor, Tonya Breymier:

Hi! I am Tonya Breymier, the course facilitator and official chaperone with the RN2BSN and MSN students. I am so excited about this experience for the students. I have been an RN for over 26 years and I have worked OB, PACU, nursing education, nursing administration, and community health (certified diabetes educator). The past 11 years I have taught at IU East School of Nursing and currently serve as the Associate Dean for RN2BSN and MSN programs. When I first designed this course I had no idea “where” to go. I wanted the students to experience a different type of healthcare and have an international experience, as well as widen their perspective on health policy and leadership. London gave us that opportunity. The students have been studying all semester, interesting concepts such as: Nursing in the UK; Nurse preparation in the UK; Leadership; Teamwork and Collaboration; and last but certainly not least, where it all began…the history of nursing with an in-depth look at Florence Nightingale! I would love to share more about the experience while we are in London…but, you are going to have to “follow” us and take the journey with us!Breymier
