We’ve had a busy summer, re-designing and re-purposing library space to get maximum use and to create specialized areas focused on student needs. With another semester of record-breaking enrollment at IU East, the Library provides learning spaces dedicated to both general and specific uses.

If you need formal group study space, Hayes 101 is convenient for 10-12 students.  Prefer more informal space?  Try the Library Living Room on the 2^nd floor, with its eclectic and comfortable décor, complete with bean bag chairs.  It is open for groups anytime a class is not scheduled to use it (the schedule is posted on the door). And if you need to spread out with your school projects, whether individually or as a group, the 2^nd floor has several large tables you can use.

Study rooms on the first and second floors provide specialized tools to help students with particular course needs. Are you in Nursing?  Room 145 has computers with nursing clinical simulations loaded on them.  A Music major?  Try the Naxos listening station in room 255.  Communications?  A video production suite is in room 251.  And room 147 features Dragon Naturally Speaking, the dictation software.  These rooms are available for all students but we do need to provide priority use when students need to use the specific software provided in them. And because these study rooms are in high demand, we provide scheduling for them at the 1^st floor circulation desk.  Just stop there and reserve the rooms for up to 2 hours.

The area with computers on the 1^st floor now has a “reference bar” that is handy for pulling up a stool and plugging in a laptop. We encourage you to ask questions to the staff there and throughout the Library!
