IUEREF for Academic Success provides a handy overview for how to find what you need at the Campus Library website. Our campus has almost 300,000 electronic books in our collection and more than 600 databases. Primary sources
Primary sources that focus on American history include African-American History Online, American Civil War: Letters and Diaries, American Indian History Online, American Women’s History Online, British and Irish Women’s Letters and Diaries, Gale Primary Sources, Modern World History Online, Oral History Online, North American Immigrant Letters & Diaries, The Sixties: Primary Documents and Personal Narratives, and Women and Social Movements in the United States, 1600-2000. Even a database that seems by nature to be a secondary source, the Britannica, includes an option to search specifically for primary documents. Learn the details of each in this blog. To find music and maps, try the Live Music Archive, and the David Rumsey Historical Map Collection, featured in this blog.
News Sources
The library subscribes to numerous news sources, contemporary and historical. Current news can be located in Newspaper Source and ProQuest News & Newspapers, which index thousands of news outlets. Sources for older news are the Nineteenth Century U.S. Newspapers, Seventeenth and Eighteenth Century Burney Newspapers Collection, Illustrated London News Historical Archive-1842-2003, and the British Library Newspapers.
International information
Cross cultural research can encompass food, music, dance, religion, travel, and explorations of diverse countries. In this international-focused blog, you will discover Food Studies, Food and Drinks in History, Garland Encyclopedia of World Music, Dance in Video, and the Religion and Philosophy Collection. There are also links to National Geographic, Central and South America, Africa and the Middle East, and Asia.
