Lora Kay Baldwin (September 17, 1958 to March 29, 2019)

~ a reflection by colleague and friend Sue McFadden Did you ever meet Lora Baldwin? Lora Baldwin was a student at IU East in 1980, she became a librarian on campus in 1985, and we became friends in 1987. As a member of the faculty since 1985, Lora was pragmatic, smart, just, and caring. The Women of IU Conference offered a way to rethink and consider new avenues of action, good ideas for mentoring relationships, wise women’s words, and positive reinforcement. The conference keynote speakers and break-out sessions online presentations and messages provide access to a broader audience to experience the shared ideas. The First Lady of IU, Laurie Burns McRobbie, opened and welcomed all attendees and then introduced President Michael McRobbie. The … Continued

Professor Blakey encouraged and supported the IU East Library and Archives through development and committee work. He was active in securing the collections that were donated to the archives and created the Regional History Archives. In 1975 he received a Lilly … Continued
Immigration

Immigration

Immigration around the world is in the news, on our TVs and social media, and in the discussions of world leaders and ordinary citizens. It is part of politics and daily life for most Americans and it is an IU East Campus topic theme for Fall semester 2017. What are the facts, the issues, and the opinions? The Campus Library has a resource for you to find out about Immigration. The purpose of the LibGuide is to provide reliable, factual, and editorial information about Immigration in the United States.  Consider the last 600 years; unless you are Native American from the American Continents, you are of immigrant heritage. European settlers began a migration soon after Columbus landed on an island … Continued
