If you’ve visited the library recently, you know we’re always fine-tuning things here.  Our most recent change involves the reference books.  These used to be split up into two sections – reference and biography books, in two different places.  We’ve combined them into one easy-to-use collection.  Both types of books now make up the first row of shelves in the stacks.  So if you don’t see them where they used to be, don’t worry – they’re still here! ProQuest Possibilities

If you’ve visited the IU East Campus Library or searched for online library resources, you have probably seen or heard the word “ProQuest.”  If you have searched for peer-reviewed articles for a research paper, you have likely used a ProQuest database. Have you ever wondered what ProQuest is and what it does? ProQuest is one of a few large vendors that compile academic material for libraries to purchase as database subscriptions. ProQuest offers general and specialized databases. Find biographies, images, primary source and timelines about American women. Read about the events and issues that shape women’s lives in the United States. Today is Presidents’ Day, but just like on Martin Luther King Day, not many of us are going to celebrate by reading a biography of George Washington.  This day has come to represent ideals far more than any one person’s life.  The idea of liberty, of our national character, is more the spirit of this holiday. Libguides: reliable research resources ..Trust the Guide!

IU East Campus Library has reached the milestone of 100 published library guides!  Since September 2009 IU East has been a member of the “Libguides” Community, which includes 1,857 libraries worldwide, representing 28,000 librarians who have contributed almost 140,000 publicly searchable guides on topics ranging from Art to Zoology.  At IU East, our libguides are developed in partnership with faculty to provide a convenient and organized portal of reliable information resources focused on specific courses or general subject areas.  Examples are Cost Accounting, Methods of Experimental Psychology, Topics in History: Understanding Vietnam, and Professional Nursing Seminar.
