The Girl in the Tangerine Scarf: An introduction

The Girl in the Tangerine Scarf: An introduction

This year’s One Book selection, The Girl in the Tangerine Scarf, first came to IU East as one of the books that the library acquired as a result of the Next Indiana Bookshelf. The Next Indiana Bookshelf was a Bicentennial Legacy project from 2015 that gave Indiana-themed books to selected libraries throughout the state as a means to promote state history and pride. This selection was chosen because of its strong ties to Indiana, its theme and its connection with other on-campus theme activities. The Girl in the Tangerine Scarf layers multiple issues into one fulfilling, ultimately uplifting narrative. This book follows the life of Khadra Shamy, whose parents and brother immigrated to the United States from Syria when she … Continued

Summer of service

As we settle into Fall, we pause to reflect on Summer 2017 – a summer of service. The Math Counts! program is generously supported by grants from the IU East Chancellor’s Innovation Fund, the Stamm Koechlein Family Foundation and the Indiana Kids program. Special thanks to tutoring coordinators Katelyn Brown … Continued

And the library is a vital part of that – not just later, when things are coming due, but right now, at the beginning of the semester – whether you need scholarly resources, computers, a place to print out your syllabi (remember to bring your new Crimson Card, available in room 109), or just a quiet place to study. One common request we get at this time of year is for textbooks. Like most college libraries, we have a … Continued

Request Delivery and Interlibrary Loan

A new semester is about to begin and the IU East library has all the resources you need. However, if there is something we don’t have, there are a couple of ways you can get it. There is a great chance that if the IU East library doesn’t house a book you need, another IU library does. There is an option in IUCat to search all the IU libraries and to have one of their books be delivered here to the IU East Campus Library. You can always select the “All IUCat” option when searching for book titles and if the IU East campus copy is not available, then you can select the “Request This” button and request the pickup … Continued
