With the success of our Scholar’s Book Fair last week, we received some feedback from faculty that the OER (Open Education Resources) and IU Pressbooks stations were two of the most valuable topics covered during the event. And with OER Week coming up in less than a month (March 2-6), it is a good time to discuss in more detail what an OER is and how can IU Pressbooks contribute to OER creation. What is an OER? One tool is IUScholarWorks (IUSW), the Indiana University Libraries Institutional Repository (IR) that archives and provides online access to scholarly communication objects. This provides space for a variety of materials created by faculty and students. These materials vary from research to service, and include teaching resources. Celebrate Student Scholarly Work at IU East

Student Research Day (SRD) is a tradition at Indiana University East and it began as the culmination of the SUMRS (Summer Research Scholars Program) for undergraduates. After the research was completed the students presented their scholarly research findings at a meeting. Over the years the meeting expanded to an event each spring with the SUMRS scholars and additional students sharing findings and results from their research and creative activities. The range of activities for SRD includes oral presentations, poster presentations, 3-minute presentations, and distance presentations. At SRD 2017 on March 31st, the promotional issue of the Journal of Student Research at Indiana University East was shared with presenters and attendees.
