New Canvas Library Tool Available – ProQuest Resources

The IU East Campus Library is now offering a new tool to embed journal articles and other resources directly into Canvas from our database search engine, ProQuest Central. This is a similar tool to the Library Resources application that we launched in Fall of 2022, which allows faculty to search and embed articles from EBSCO Discovery directly into Canvas from the Module level. Faculty can now search and pull article links that are available from our ProQuest databases, for which we subscribe to over 80, into their Canvas course! New Canvas Tool Available – Library Resources

The IU East Campus Library is now offering a new tool to embed journal articles and other resources directly into Canvas from our database search engine, EBSCO Discovery. For the last few years, a tool known as “Reading Lists” has been available to faculty interested in searching for articles directly within Canvas and adding them to their modules. The platform that supported “Reading Lists” will be retiring in 2023 and EBSCO now has an LTI to replace “Reading Lists.” LTI is an acronym for Learning Tools Interoperability, which means it allows learning tools from different vendors to be launched within an application like a learning management system, such as Canvas. Make Accessing Articles Easier for Your Students with ProQuest

One of the IU East Campus Library’s biggest database providers, ProQuest, now can be integrated into Learning Management Systems, including Canvas. If you find that you regularly incorporate research articles from one of our ProQuest databases, such as ProQuest Central, into your courses, then there is now an easier way to link to ProQuest content from within Canvas. This new integration capability will allow students to directly access journal articles, primary source documents, videos, and newspaper reports without leaving their Canvas course environment, skipping over the hassle of linking out of the course and having to login again to access the material.
