Important Changes Coming to Interlibrary Loan!

Important Changes Coming to Interlibrary Loan!

The library’s interlibrary loan system, ILLiad is getting a major upgrade. We are changing to a new, online platform, ILLiad 2.0. ILLiad 2.0 will have a brand new user interface that will be easier to place requests, access and manage your requests, and update your account details or communication preferences. The overall process, on the library’s end, will be much more streamlined as well. We hope that this new system will make your interlibrary loan service much more enjoyable. For instance, there will be an option to renew online, through your login, so you no longer have to contact the ILL specialist to renew for you. You click the renew option and the request will go directly to the lending … Continued

Meeting Your Research Needs for Free- Open Access!

Last week we posted on the Library’s Facebook page about a new resource we added to our A-Z Resource List, the Open Textbook Library, which provides free access to numerous textbooks across all disciplines. This is exciting as all students know that textbooks are expensive and the cost is a major barrier for many students. Students of universities and colleges have the advantage of getting access to many different e-books and journals through their libraries, who pay a subscription fee for most of their databases. However, we know that it can still be difficult to find what we need and there are many more people who cannot get easy access to most paid library resources. We at the IU East … Continued

The IU East Archives- Exploring and Preserving the Campus’ History

The campus archives is doing a lot to prepare for IU’s Bicentennial in 2020 and for IU East’s 50th anniversary in 2021. We have the Bicentennial Oral History project, a campus wide endeavor to collect stories from IU alumni across all the campuses, happening now and the stories we collect here at East are vital to preserving the history and culture of IU East. If you are an IU alumni, you can participate at https://200.iu.edu/signature-projects/oral-history/form.html. Make sure to select “share my story” and to choose the campus you graduated from. IU East alumni will hear from the East campus Bicentennial intern, Cassidy Clouse, or archivist, Beth South. We also have a few other projects happening at the IU East Archives … Continued

Do you have a story? Oral history interviews are continuing at the IU East Campus Library!

It’s a new semester, a new year, and the library is continuing its mission to collect oral histories from IU East alumni and retired faculty for the IU Bicentennial and IU East archives! We are a few years away from celebrating 200 years of IU history, as well as IU East’s 50th anniversary, but it is never too early to start preserving and collecting all the unique and interesting stories from so many different members of the IU family. IU East has such an interesting beginning, starting off as a couple of rooms at Earlham College before evolving into the ever expanding campus we are today, with our students and faculty coming from all different backgrounds and experiences. We take … Continued

Sydney Schumacher- History Major

I still remember the day that I fell in love with museums. I was twelve years old and it was at The Milwaukee Public Museum in Wisconsin, my home state. I had always been a history lover, and for the longest time I wanted to be a Paleontologist. As I grew older, I came to favor ancient and medieval world history, which is what I am majoring in. I have done a lot of reading and studying over my lifetime, and I have had the amazing opportunity to go to Egypt to study my love for history first hand. Museums, libraries, and archives are all workplaces that I am just itching to get my hands into. This semester I have … Continued
