Explore Education in Videos for reliable resources of more than 1,650 hours of videos that provide the opportunity to observe behaviors that define effective teaching styles. IU East offers many study abroad opportunities in countries all over the world.  These can vary in duration – some for as little as a week – and are an excellent opportunity for any student to broaden their cultural horizons.  Scholarships are also available to ensure anyone who wants such an experience can benefit from one.  Countries that have a study abroad opportunity within the next few semesters include Belize, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, England, Ghana, Italy, Japan, Morocco, Scotland, South Korea, and Spain. Films can be a useful supplemental resource for many lessons or courses. The IU East Campus Library continuously works to provide easy, comprehensive access to streaming films for educational purposes. Here is a list of places to search and access a film or documentary for courses as well as some advice on sharing and maintaining access to these films. Library Licensed Content AVON (Academic Video Online) is a multidisciplinary collection of videos that can meet a variety of curricular needs, such as counseling and therapy, dance, music, theatre, ethnographic studies, environmental studies, nursing, and education. African American History Month offers a wonderful opportunity to reflect on cultural and artistic achievements of African Americans. They have been making films as long as the medium has existed but faced unique challenges. African American film grew out of a caricatured, othered presentation of black culture to mainstream audiences, and had to reclaim its own narrative.  But the pernicious influence of cultural stereotypes was not the only challenge.
