Make Accessing Articles Easier for Your Students with ProQuest

One of the IU East Campus Library’s biggest database providers, ProQuest, now can be integrated into Learning Management Systems, including Canvas. If you find that you regularly incorporate research articles from one of our ProQuest databases, such as ProQuest Central, into your courses, then there is now an easier way to link to ProQuest content from within Canvas. This new integration capability will allow students to directly access journal articles, primary source documents, videos, and newspaper reports without leaving their Canvas course environment, skipping over the hassle of linking out of the course and having to login again to access the material. 244 years ago, on Christmas Day of 1776, General George Washington led a force across the Delaware River to attack a Hessian outpost in Trenton. His army, which up until then had lost battle after battle, was near the point of dissolution – the enlistments for most of the men would expire at the end of the year, extinguishing the American ability to field an army. The Battle of Trenton was one of the most unexpected, as well as complete, victories American forces had achieved, and it reinvigorated the flagging army at the point when the fragile nation was closest to disintegration. November is Native American Heritage Month – an opportunity to pay tribute to the traditions and ancestry of the tribes and people groups who originally occupied this continent. It is an opportunity to learn and to foster dialogue. Library resources are among the most vetted and authoritative available. One of the best databases is American Indian History Online, which features primary sources, maps, documentary videos, and other media. It is searchable by region, tribe, person, event, or topic. Of special note are sections on influential court cases and legislative history. International Resources for International Education Week

International Education Week (Nov. 16-20, 2020) is a joint initiative of the US Department of State and the US Department of Education designed to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. In honor of International Education Week, the IU East Library wants to highlight some of the databases available that support study abroad programs, international exchange, and cross cultural research. We have databases that focus specifically on a particular country or on travel and culture in general and they are organized as such below.
