The Golden Door

We are excited to announce that the library is hosting “Emma Lazarus: Voice of Liberty, Voice of Conscience,” a traveling exhibition documenting the life and influence of the social activist who wrote the famous poem on the Statue of Liberty: “Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”       Other exhibits and displays in the library focus on immigration.  Dr. Joanne Passet has generously loaned artifacts owned by her great grandmother, Annie Townsend Quantic when she immigrated to the United States in 1894.
