Service-learning is a teaching and learning strategy that connects academic curriculum to community problem-solving. At IU East, the Center for Service Learning (CSL) provides dynamic opportunities for fulfilling the vision “to enrich the campus and community through educationally meaningful service that helps students become socially responsible citizens.” Service-learning aligns with the IU 2030 Strategic Plan, Pillar 3, “Service to Our State and Beyond” as well as the IU East Campus Strategic Plan, with the objective to increase impact within the community by facilitating and supporting connections among community partners, students, faculty, and staff. Full-text and e-books for fast access

When time is a factor, your campus library has resources that can be accessed immediately – locally held books and ebooks and full text articles in databases.  Most databases offer a check box or something similar to refine searching to immediately available assets.  Often, this will be near the search box, or along one side of the screen, in a section with a heading like ‘limit your results’.  Databases like the EBSCO Discovery Service, ProQuest, or JSTOR, offer copious full text, whereas sources like Web of Knowledge or Science Citation Index, offer only citations or abstracts. New Canvas Library Tool Available – ProQuest Resources

The IU East Campus Library is now offering a new tool to embed journal articles and other resources directly into Canvas from our database search engine, ProQuest Central. This is a similar tool to the Library Resources application that we launched in Fall of 2022, which allows faculty to search and embed articles from EBSCO Discovery directly into Canvas from the Module level. Faculty can now search and pull article links that are available from our ProQuest databases, for which we subscribe to over 80, into their Canvas course! Drop-in Poetry and more at your Campus Library

Every April since 1996, the US has celebrated National Poetry Month.  While the Academy of American Poets has developed a 30-day list of activities, the IU East Campus Library has resources and databases to help students, staff and faculty observe year ‘round.  To kick things off this year, the Library is hosting a drop-in poetry activity on Thursday, April 13 from 12:30 to 1:30 PM.
