Writing is one of the most valuable skills honed in college, and will pay dividends in any walk of life. Good writing allows you to communicate compassionately and effectively, avoid ambiguity, and convey your ideas to others in a persuasive way. From emails and memos around the office to sympathy letters in times of bereavement, your writing skill can directly help in a time of need. Do you have IU East Campus Library books that need to be returned or renewed? There are several options available. You can renew your books online, email iueref@iue.edu, return your books via the Library Book Drop that is located on the circle drive between Whitewater and Springwood, or mail the books to campus via USPS “Media” mail. Providing reliable and useful resources is a large part of the mission of our Campus Library. This includes numerous databases, e-books, and media that cost hundreds of thousands of dollars that are paid to aggregate vendors, producers and publishers. More and more resources are becoming “open access,” meaning they are publicly accessible and free to use. However, much content needed by academic library users still comes with a cost. That situation is changing, in an interim response to the coronavirus pandemic. Many formerly subscription-only resources are temporarily open access, some through April, some until June and some open-ended.
