As you enjoy your ice cream, pancakes, movies, and other Back with the Pack activities, you’ll quickly be settling into a routine of coursework, study, research, and writing. A new semester is about to begin and the IU East library has all the resources you need. However, if there is something we don’t have, there are a couple of ways you can get it. There is a great chance that if the IU East library doesn’t house a book you need, another IU library does. There is an option in IUCat to search all the IU libraries and to have one of their books be delivered here to the IU East Campus Library. Important Changes Coming to Interlibrary Loan!

The library’s interlibrary loan system, ILLiad is getting a major upgrade. We are changing to a new, online platform, ILLiad 2.0. ILLiad 2.0 will have a brand new user interface that will be easier to place requests, access and manage your requests, and update your account details or communication preferences. The overall process, on the library’s end, will be much more streamlined as well. We hope that this new system will make your interlibrary loan service much more enjoyable. For instance, there will be an option to renew online, through your login, so you no longer have to contact the ILL specialist to renew for you. Summer may be a welcome respite for students, but it rarely is for faculty! Research, writing articles, attending professional conferences, preparing new programs and courses – a professor’s job is never done. The library has always been a great tool for professors in teaching their classes. It’s a place to send students to broaden their understanding, and find books and journals that support their arguments. As exams and papers come due, you’re probably reaching the point in the semester when you need to do a lot of research.  There are lots of great spaces to be on campus – the Graf center, the Mikesell Plaza (when the weather is nice) – but those aren’t necessarily the best places to study.  For that, the library is your go-to destination.
