Professional and Staff Service Awards Announced

I am pleased to announce this year’s outstanding support staff member and professional staff member who have made significant contributions to IU East during the past year. This year’s recipients are Cherie Dolehanty, Professional Council Service Award, and Bob Ladd, Staff Council Service Award. These individuals will receive their service awards during the Staff Council Ants N’ All Picnic held from noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 28, on the Springwood Hall Patio. The service awards will be presented by the Office of Human Resources at 1 p.m. As a reminder for the picnic, faculty and staff are invited to attend and to bring a side dish to share. IU East Honors Convocation recognizes outstanding faculty

Indiana University East recognized several faculty during the Honors Convocation ceremony held April 20. Presented during the ceremony were the Trustee IU East Faculty Recognition awards. Josh Tolbert, assistant professor of special education, received the Progress Award for New Faculty. This award is given to faculty to acknowledge their contributions to teaching, research and service. Shelly Burns, lecturer of nursing, received the Teaching Award for New Faculty. This award recognizes excellence in teaching by an untenured faculty member throughout their first four years at IU East. Denise Bullock, associate professor of sociology, received the Helen Lees Award for Excellence in Teaching. Appeals on Wheels to visit IU East on March 23

The Indiana Court of Appeals will visit Indiana University East at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 23, to hear oral argument. The court case will be argued in Vivian Auditorium, located in Whitewater Hall. The event is sponsored by the Criminal Justice Program of the IU East School of Humanities and Social Sciences and the Wayne County Bar Association. Assistant Professor of Political Science E. Professor Emeritus endows $625,000 gift for scholarships, School of Humanities and Social Sciences

Paul Kriese Paul Kriese has endowed one of the largest gifts from a faculty member to Indiana University East and the School of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS). Kriese, professor emeritus of political science, is gifting $625,000 that will be used to fund Honors Program scholarships; Criminal Justice and Social Sciences programs; the Paul Kriese Scholarship for Service Engagement; and the Paul Kriese Humanities and Social Sciences endowed fund. This is in addition to Kriese’s 2005 gift of $70,000 which created the Florence and Richard Kriese Memorial Scholarship in honor of his parents.
