Student Showcase in Meijer Artway

Indiana University East and Purdue University College of Technology in Richmond students now have their work on display in the Meijer Artway through Friday, May 2. Students exhibiting work were in fine arts classes at IU East during the fall 2013 and spring 2014 semesters. Instructors selected pieces for monetary awards during the artists’ reception March 26. Stagg Safety of Richmond sponsored the awards. Senior Capstone Art Exhibition open at Room 912

The Senior Capstone Art Exhibition, which includes works by nine Indiana University East seniors, is on display in the Room 912 Gallery, located at 912 E. Main Street in Richmond. The exhibition is on display May 2-May 30. It is free and open to the public. IU East’s Fine Arts Program requires students to complete a Senior Capstone Project to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts. Each student must create an original body of work in their area of concentration during their senior year and display their creations in a final exhibition. Student Art Sale is going on now at IU East’s Room 912

The Art Club at Indiana University East is holding its first Student Art Sale now through April 24. The sale includes paintings of various media and scale, drawings, and glazed functional ceramic ware. All current students at IU East were eligible to bring in art work to sell. The student sale is unique in that unlike other art shows and exhibitions on campus, the students are in charge of making the sale happen from recruiting, pricing, installing and displaying the work. IU East, RAM to host first Cork and Canvas April 18

Richmond, Ind. – Indiana University East and the Richmond Art Museum invites the community to participate in “Cork and Canvas” from 6-9 p.m. on Friday, April 18, 2014. The inaugural “Cork and Canvas” will be held at IU East’s Room 912, located at 912 E. Main Street, Richmond, Ind. The cost is $35 and includes art supplies. Wine may be purchased at the event. Participants must be age 21 and over. Career Pathways

The School of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) produces a program for Whitewater Community Television (WCTV) titled “Career Pathways.” The show, which airs at 9pm on WETV Channel 20, is an introduction to professionals in the Wayne County area and the paths they took from their degrees in the liberal arts and social sciences to their current careers.
