Peace Walk to be held at Baker Park

First Friends Meeting and St. James Episcopal Church have planned the annual Pray for Peace Walk at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21 at the shelter house on the west side of Baker Park.

The event is to commemorate the International Day of Peace, also known as World Peace Day.

Dr. Wazir Mohamed, assistant professor of sociology at Indiana University East in Richmond will speak about what the Koran says about peace.

Gathering music will be provided by Dave Carter of New Castle at 5:30 p.m., followed by the program at 6 p.m.

The community is welcome to come together to pray for peace for this community, nation and world, praying that all people can live in a world without racism, war and poverty.

Organizers believe that peace begins with one heart reaching out to another. The group will begin the walk around the park after the program and refreshments will be available following the walk.
