Indiana University East is pleased to welcome new faculty this semester. Faculty are listed below under the school in which they teach. School of Business and Economics Brandon Smit, assistant professor of business administration and management, received his Ph.D. in Industrial-Organizational Psychology, his Master of Science in Industrial-Organizational Psychology and his Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Saint Louis University. Brandon Smit Previously, Smit was an instructor with the Department of Psychological Sciences at Ball State University in Muncie, Ind. As a graduate student, Smit received a Best Paper Award in the Human Resources Division from the Academy of Management. IUE Associate Professor, Dr. Wazir Mohamed, will speak at peace walk

Peace Walk to be held at Baker Park First Friends Meeting and St. James Episcopal Church have planned the annual Pray for Peace Walk at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21 at the shelter house on the west side of Baker Park. The event is to commemorate the International Day of Peace, also known as World Peace Day. Dr. Wazir Mohamed, assistant professor of sociology at Indiana University East in Richmond will speak about what the Koran says about peace. Whether they are riding their bikes or walking around campus, running to classes or running for the Indiana University East track team, Clint Swanson and Brandon Lingenfelter have gained valuable legs up on their careers while serving as cadets on the university police force. Brandon Lingenfelter They are following their dreams in the classroom, in law enforcement and in helping other people. IU East Red Wolves garner one gold, two silver medals at the Olympics

Three Red Wolves received Summer 2016 Olympic medals in Rio de Janeiro over the weekend. Monica Puig won the first gold medal in any sport for Puerto Rico. Puig made Olympic history after she defeated Germany’s Angelique Kerber 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 on Saturday, August 13. Puig, a communications studies major, is enrolled in Indiana University East’s online degree completion program. For Team USA, IU East alumna Venus Williams and current online student, Rajeev Ram, won the silver medal in mixed doubles tennis on Sunday, August 14. Williams and Ram played against Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Jack Sock, also on Team USA, in the mixed doubles tennis finals. Williams and Ram completed the match 6-7 (3), 6-1, 10-7.
