Indiana University East is committed to a policy of fair treatment of its students in their relationships with fellow students, faculty, staff and administrators.
In the event of a problem, students are encouraged to seek an informal resolution of the matter directly with the faculty or individual(s) involved when possible. For matters where an informal resolution is not feasible, a Complaint Form can be used to initiate that process.
The completed complaint form will be reviewed by the Dean of Students and forwarded to the appropriate office based on the subject matter.
- Example 1: If the complaint is against a student for violation of the Code of Student Conduct, the complaint will be addressed by the Dean of Students.
- Example 2: If the complaint alleges discrimination based on race, color, sex, religion, national origin, age, disability, the complaint will be forwarded to Director of the Office of Affirmative Action.
- Example 3: If the subject matter is an academic complaint, the complaint will be addressed by the appropriate school dean in consultation with the Chief Academic Officer and/or Dean of Students.
