Degree Requirements

To graduate with the BSN, you must complete a total of 120 credit hours. You may be able to transfer an associate degree or up to 64 credit hours from a regionally accredited two-year college and up to 90 credit hours from a regionally accredited four-year college or university.

1. The minimum requirement for RN to BSN students pursuing the BSN degree is 120 credit hours.
2. Students beginning the required nursing courses must complete all coursework in 4 years.
3. Failure to register in each sequential semester, excluding summer sessions, constitutes an interruption in the online degree completion option.

Admissions

Requirements

1. Be admitted to Indiana University as a degree-seeking student
2. Have graduated with an Associates in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing
3. Have graduated from an ASN program with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
4. No less than nine required general education courses completed with a grade of C or above (may be taken with nursing coursework if needed)
5. Have a current, unencumbered RN license in the state where you are practicing or plan to practice

RN to BSN coursework consists of general education and nursing courses. General education courses completed at other universities may be applicable toward your degree completion IF credits are accepted by the Office of Admissions or determined to be equivalent by the School of Nursing.

How to Apply

1. Apply for admission in the fall, spring, or summer semesters. An application can be obtained through IU Online (online.iu.edu).
2. Transfer of credit from other colleges/universities is completed at the time of admission to the university by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Transfer credit will be awarded for courses with a minimum grade of C, if courses being transferred are equivalent to required course work.
