Recommendations for the title are initiated and approved by the School and transmitted by the Dean or unit head (hereafter Dean) to the campus Promotion and Tenure Committee. Transmissions to the Committee should include a narrative summary, preferably one page in length, citing the professional accomplishments and the record of university service of the candidate, as well as a copy of the letter of retirement and the expected retirement date;
2. with the Promotion and Tenure Committee’s approval, documentation (including the School’s letter of recommendation) is transmitted to the CAO;
3. with the CAO’s approval, documentation (including the School’s letter of recommendation) is transmitted to the Chancellor, and the Board of Trustees.
The Faculty Senate recommends that retirees awarded the title be accorded the following privileges:
1. lifetime ID card or equivalent indicating their status and listing in university catalogs and directories;
2. network account and access privileges;
3. regular-faculty library privileges, including remote access to online databases;
4. by invitation of the School, service as guest lecturer, substitute or part-time faculty, or member of thesis committees;
5. based on availability and the recommendation of the School, office or lab space, supplies, equipment, and other campus facilities in support of research or educational projects;
6. with the recommendation of the School, voting privileges in the School;
7. with the recommendation of Faculty Senate, voting privileges in Faculty Senate;
8. purchase of regular-faculty parking permits and/or, when underwritten by the School, receipt of free parking for special committee assignments;
9. regular-faculty fee courtesy for credit courses;
10. participation in university public ceremonies e.g., commencement, and, on request, receipt of campus publications;
11. regular-faculty access to and ticket arrangements for use of recreational facilities and admission to social activities.
