Students pursuing the certificate are not required to be enrolled in a baccalaureate degree program. Certain courses have prerequisites and you will first need to fulfill those prerequisites. Placement into the appropriate level of Spanish language course is required.

Certificate Requirements
Students must be placed into the appropriate level Spanish course by test or advisement before beginning the certificate program. At least 9 hours of the certificate must be completed on the IU East campus. Student’s GPA for the certificate must not be below a 2.0.
Hispanic Culture - Required Course (3 cr)

Spanish Language - Required Courses (0-14 cr based on proficiency)
Diversity and Culture - Electives (6 cr)
