The mission of the Office of Affirmative Action (OAA) is to protect the rights of each individual and to ensure their equal access in all aspects of employment, education, and participation within the University. The OAA works with the IU Bloomington Office of Institutional Equity (OIE), IU East Office of Academic Affairs, and the IU East Office of Human Resources (HR) to ensure that academic hiring practices conform with our federal and state obligations, to promote best practices toward creating diverse applicant pools and a diverse work force, and to support an equitable work environment.
This online guide provides instructions for conducting fair and equitable searches, maintaining proper documentation, and the steps necessary to obtain approvals from the OAA through this process.
