Compliance

Be sure you meet federal, state, and IU guidelines

Depending on your type of research or creative work, there may be a number of guidelines and procedures you must follow. The most common areas include:

  • Human Subject Research which requires review and approval from an institutional review board or the Human Subjects office.
  • Animal Subject Research requires review and approval from the the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC)

There are a total of seven areas of compliance at IU. Be sure to review them to understand and prepare for what may be required of you during your project.

Some compliance areas also require training before you begin your work.

Animal Subject Research

The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) provides oversight for animal safety at Indiana University East. Faculty and students who wish to engage in any research involving animals must have approval from this committee before beginning the project. Additionally, anyone who plans to bring an animal to campus for class observational purposes must also have committee approval.

This committee will convene twice annually. For further information, or to submit a proposal, please contact ???
