Welcome - and welcome back! - to IU East!
Each August it is our pleasure to host the Adjunct Faculty Orientation for campus. The IU East Center for Faculty Development (CFD) truly values our adjunct teachers, and we know how hard each and every one of them works to make their classes a rich and rewarding learning experience.
For us, the Adjunct Orientation is a wonderful opportunity to connect with our adjunct faculty members, and to make sure they have the information they need to stay up-to-date on campus policies and initiatives, feel comfortable reaching out to their departments and support staff, and to try to keep any unwelcome surprises to a minimum for the year!
Anyone teaching with IU East can register for the Adjunct Orientation (we often encourage adjuncts to join us every year, as there is always new information to share). To register, simply send an email to cfd@iue.edu, and let us know you are interested in joining us.
We look forward to seeing you there!
"Quality Matters (QM) is a faculty-centered, peer review process that is designed to certify the quality of online and blended courses. QM is a leader in quality assurance for online education and has received national recognition for its scalable, peer-based approach and continuous improvement in online education and student learning." (Learn more about QM)
Indiana University has adpoted the QM rubric and strives to make sure that online courses meet, or exceed, Quality Matters standards. Based on research, QM uses a peer-based approach to continuous improvement in online course design and student learning. IU's QM license provides the seven IU-managed campuses access to:
- Faculty-centered continuous improvement models
- Networks for assuring the quality of online courses through peer review
- Professional development workshops and certification courses
- Rubrics for applying quality standards to course design
- A self-review tool to guide early design and revision
Please contact the IU East Center for Faculty Development (CFD) at cfd@iue.edu for more information about applying Quality Matters at IU, and/or how to begin the review process.
Please see our Events page for upcoming training dates for the IU East campus.
IU Online Class Connect (IUOCC) is a process that allows a student enrolled at one IU campus to register for an online class offered at another IU campus without having to go through intercampus transfer. IUOCC provides a mechanism for sharing faculty resources and unique classes among participating campuses, supports the offering of classes required for joint academic programs among collaborating campuses, and increases the availability of online classes to students, thus helping them attain their educational goals.
