Kylie Barnes received the IU East and G101.3 High School Volunteer of the Month award.

Indiana University East and G101.3 radio station announced Kylie Barnes as the High School Volunteer of the Month for September. The program honors area high school students for their service in the community.

Barnes of Richmond, Ind., is a junior at Richmond High School. She was nominated for her volunteer service with the Salvation Army. She is also a peer mentor at RHS and she has also started volunteering with Oak Park Church on Chester Boulevard every Sunday. She also helps at the Animal Welfare League. As busy as she is, she also has an interest in learning more about volunteering at the food pantry.

As the September High School Volunteer of the Month, Barnes will receive a $250 scholarship to IU East. Barnes is planning on attending IU East after she graduates from Richmond High School to pursue a nursing degree.

IU East and G101.3 will recognize one student each month with the High School Volunteer of the Month award. Nominees should be high school students, ages 19 and under, who exemplify the spirit of community service and volunteerism. Each month a panel will select one of the nominated volunteers.
