We envision the broad charge of this committee to “bring to life” our campus diversity statement, which reads as follows:

The Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and the Diversity and Inclusion Coalition is excited to launch the official IU East Campus Climate Survey. It was developed to help facilitate a better understanding of our community's perspectives and experiences related to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The data collected will be used to help understand the present climate at IU East and to inform future programming and planning.
The survey will be open until October 21 and takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. It can be filled out on a computer or mobile device. Participation is completely voluntary and responses will be kept confidential. Information will not be used to identify individuals in any manner.
Questions will include topics such as:
The degree to which you feel welcomed on campus
Your rating of campus support for people from diverse backgrounds and identities
The extent to which you feel a sense of belonging on our campus
Whether you have experienced bias and/or discrimination
Yes. Honest and authentic responses are needed to gather reliable data about the University’s climate. All responses will be completely confidential.
Names and e-mail addresses will only be collected for those who want to be eligible to receive a survey incentive. Participants will be directed to a different site to provide this information. There will be no ability to match survey data to names or e-mail addresses. Data will be reported in aggregate form and will never be attributable to an individual.
The survey results will be shared with the campus community next semester and used to engage in action planning to make IU East more diverse, equitable, and inclusive.
