Indiana University East has a new director of Human Resources and Payroll.

Tracy Amyx begins the role effective immediately. She has served as the interim director for the department since October 2022.

Tracy Amyx is the new director of Human Resources and Payroll at IU East.

Amyx has been at IU East for eight years. She was appointed as the deputy Sexual Misconduct and Title IX coordinator/director of Affirmative Action/EEOC Officer in January 2017. She will continue to serve the campus in this role as an interim deputy and coordinator until a future transition plan is developed for those responsibilities.

As director of Human Resources and Payroll, Amyx will provide guidance and support to campus leadership and employees on strategic initiatives impacting the campus and its people and identifying HR solutions that will help achieve goals and objectives of the campus (strategic planning). She will manage talent acquisition, staffing and selection, employee relations, classification and compensation, and training for the campus. Amyx will supervise HR staff, and promote a collaborative and supportive work environment, as well as collaborate with HR colleagues across IU on the development of programs, policies, and best practices.

Interim Chancellor Michelle Malott said Amyx has stepped into the role seamlessly, bringing a depth of experience from her background on campus and previous employment.

“Tracy is well acquainted with the Office of Human Resources and the vital role it plays for the campus,” Malott said. “She has solid leadership and interpersonal skills, as well as experience in ensuring compliance with state and federal guidelines. I especially appreciate Tracy’s interest in fostering a campus environment that supports and reflects our mission, something she understands well from her previous experience.”

As the deputy for Title IX and coordinator/director of Affirmative Action, Amyx served a multi-facet role that investigates and resolves complaints of discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct and/or retaliation for the campus, as well as ensures it meets the standards and guidelines outlined by Title IX.

In addition to her background in Title IX and Affirmative Action, Amyx brings experience to this position from the academic side as well.

Amyx first joined IU East eight years ago as a student success coach in the former University College office (the department is now the Office of Student Success). As a student success coach, Amyx primarily worked with new online students to provide support through success coaching, advising, and additional efforts.

Before joining IU East, Amyx was a human resource assistant for Richmond Community Schools.

Amyx received her Bachelor of Science in Behavioral and Social Sciences with a Concentration in Psychology from IU East.
