IU East High School is grounded in a clear belief: each student should get to go to a school that feels like it was designed just for them—because it was. Located on the campus of Indiana University East, the microschool is intentionally designed to serve as both an early college opportunity for students in Wayne County and an on-campus lab school, blending high school learning, college coursework, and real-world experience into a personalized and coherent journey. As part of the Indiana Microschool Collaborative, it exists to demonstrate that high school can be personal, rigorous, and deeply connected to both higher education and the world beyond the classroom.
The academic model for IU East High School is intentionally ambitious. Students explore broadly in the early years, make increasingly intentional choices over time, and graduate with college credit, work experience, and a clear sense of purpose. The model reflects a belief that learning should adapt to students, not the other way around, and that meaningful preparation for the future requires more than a single pathway or one definition of success.
